Looking for a specific character for that fabulous plot you can't get out of your head and you'll die if you don't get it? Well, maybe not that far. We hope not. Either way, post a want ad! Bumping is allowed once a week, if there's been no other activity. Guest-friendly for claiming reasons!

No New Posts plotting
Without plotting, there's really no roleplaying going on, because nobody has any connection to anybody else, and that's just sad and boring. So plot! Go go go! You can give each child their own plotter, or you can bundle them all into one. It's all up to you. We don't require bundling if you're not into that. We're not an insurance company.

Please keep in mind that Deora is a little bit simpler than the human world. Their phones are not cellular, and they haven't quite perfected computers yet. If you're in the human world however, and happen to get a hold of these devices Deora doesn't have functioning quite yet, then go ahead. Just remember if you take them back through a portal, they'll go dead until you cross and charge them up again. The written word is common, and it actually doesn't take as long as you might think. Magic users, man.

No New Posts limbo
Limbo is, if you'll pardon the cliché, where the magic happens. No matter the time of the day, this place is in a perpetual starlit state, souls filtering in through its glittering sky. That is the portal for souls only, entering upon their physical body's death and, should they choose, passing back through to the Upside to go through another human life. No physical beings can go through this way, only the souls. Every soul coming from their last life begins their time in Deora here, remember. At the center of limbo is a large, white temple sort of structure, where a very select few Deorans are employed to explain to newly arrived souls everything they need to get started in Deora. Limbo is considered very important, serene, and borderline sacred to most. At its distant southern edge, Limbo borders Alainisce, but there's a lot of grassy field leading into forest to get to Limbo's core.

The kingdom of dragons sits comfortably between dangerous and calm territory, a beautiful mix of crags and carves into the mountains surrounding Orano and hidden waterfalls and, at once, a discovery of flat ledges with lush flora and fauna. It reaches out to the base of Orano, where historically dragons have chosen to live in a system of tunnels and caves, at least in true form. Antempor is not big on cities, with their home species requiring such space to be in their true skin and fly, but they are not without civilization. They're dragons, not barbarians. The bulk of their kingdom is hilly and green, with the area closest to Orano and its mountain companions rising in points like the population's own intimidating teeth.

No New Posts aquaria
It is true that most of Aquaria is beneath the water's glistening, unsleeping surface, but they are not without thought for the landlubbers. Over the years, manmade islands have helped immensely with above water interaction, along with Aquarian economics in various ways. Aquaria is actually very sophisticated in technology, with lift systems not unlike Elohim's to raise and lower folks from one level of life to the other, land to underwater or back up if that's really what you want. There's specific locations these lifts are connected to, and of course only the merfolk can venture out of these without harm (well, there may be some exceptions, such as water-dwelling shapeshifter forms, but let's not get into that now). Aquaria technically is the entire expanse of water, though the shorelines of each subsequent land kingdom belong to that kingdom, not Aquaria, and it doesn't become Aquaria for up to three miles out.

No New Posts arylle
A high percentage of Arylle is still forested, some densely so, but all in all this complements the nature of the wolves who dwell there. They are drawn to nature more than to urban areas, though this doesn't mean Arylle is just a bunch of trees. Arylle is actually one of the kingdoms with a notable couple of cities, melting pots and crossroads for all sorts of species. As dangerous as Arylle can be depending on the moon's cycle, they've worked hard to better the image of wolves and bring in diverse interests. They even offer safety instructions clearly available for anyone interested on how to protect one's self on full moon nights. Like, for instance, don't go in the forest if you aren't a werewolf and the moon is big and round. At least, most of this is true for most of Arylle's quadrants, especially the North, where the palace is located. The kingdom is divided into these four based on pack lines and (creatively) named after the cardinal directions. Development and policies about the other species and, well, everything, vary a little bit between them all but for the most part, it's all pretty even in all four.

No New Posts cerwen
The witch kingdom of Cerwen is, like its neighbor Arylle, quite forested yet not in the way one might expect. What sets Cerwen apart is its violet forests and other such colors, and it's said that for every tree there's at least three full bushes of some kind of plant with magical properties. The land can be difficult to navigate if you aren't a native or haven't been there for long. Historically, things were kept on somewhat confusing paths as a sort of security for meeting places and other witchy business. You may also stumble upon altars and temple sort of constructs in the middle of nowhere, as Cerwen is one of the most spiritual kingdoms in Deora with the most concentrated number of different belief systems as well.

No New Posts delavi
Delavi, like the shapeshifters whom call it their homeland, is always changing in one way or another. Its climate is predominantly warm and sunny, and also like its shifters, even its plants change. Delavi is one of the only places in Deora in which the color trees, literally trees that change their leaf color seemingly at will, flourish. Delavi is quite proud of them. The kingdom is also more of an agricultural place, with much of its nature protected and not too many urbanite constructs throughout its landscape, but don't let that fool you: Delavi is actually known for its festivals and food, and the spirit of these events is infectious and worth the travel. On its western edge, Delavi borders Alainisce.

No New Posts elohim
Elohim has two parts, though the vast majority is located above ground. Some say it's on a cloud. Some call it a floating island. Whatever it is, it is indeed kept levitating somehow, high above Deora's surface, and for those who can't fly up there, the portion of Elohim held by gravity has a lift service. Rather than a portal, it's literally lifts, remarkably heavy and durable, and they take their time rather than the shock from one elevation to one much higher. There's quite a few of them, and-- a valid criticism against Elohim, in all fairness-- in times of great demand to get into Elohim, some of them are priced if you want a faster travel time. The more you pay, the quicker you can get up there for whatever your reason is, but there's still plenty of free lifts. Up on the island, Elohim is very pastel and pristine-looking, as one might predict as the angelic kingdom. It's not very large and, as such, is very crowded compared to the other lands and is regarded commonly as one large city.

No New Posts morae
Morae may not be a particularly large kingdom, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in history and beautiful culture. With vampires being as they are, much of the population throughout Morae's history were former humans turned in the Upside and brought to Deora, and so they brought their ways of life along with them to keep right on living, at least in some semblance of what they had before. Much of Morae is composed of towns and cities, rather than countryside, forest, or farmland. Agriculture isn't really a wise economic choice when much of the population doesn't go outside if the sun is still up. Morae is one of the most artistically noted kingdoms of Deora, so it seems safe to say that nobody's ever let their nocturnalism stop them from being productive.

No New Posts orano
The phoenix kingdom of Orano may just be the smallest kingdom of all, purely because of its location (and the phoenixes like it there, thank you very much). Although not all of their kingdom rests on its peak, the volcano Orano is their mountain. It's not an extinct volcano, but it's always been actually a pretty peaceful one and hasn't erupted for centuries. Not extinct though, which is why the phoenixes like it so much. They can feel its heat through the mountainous shell, and they like it, not to mention several carefully carved vents from Orano's base upward through it that the dragons use. The phoenixes' land reaches to a few other mountain peaks surrounding Orano. There is one settlement resembling a town around the phoenix palace (and ancient ruins of a former palace, thought to have been knocked down when Orano was younger and shook the ground). All of that being said, while you may have gotten the impression the phoenixes don't want anyone else around (and that might be true), it's a beautiful place way up there.

No New Posts summerlands
The Summerlands, ancestral home of the fae for as long as anyone can remember, is a sea of flowering meadows and clusters of forest. It borders Alainisce, not as wide as some other kingdoms but a small stretch, on its northern side. In the closest they get to cities, they build around the flora and fauna, which can result in some interesting ways of building but they wouldn't have it any other way. Nature is a way of life, a part of what they are themselves, so they don't like to let go of it or push it out. In fact, there aren't very many actual "towns" in the Summerlands, but rather, they resemble almost caravans of sorts or communes. If they all feel like moving, they'll pack up and move. If they want to stay, they'll settle roots in a bit and stay as long as it feels right. At least, that's how several fae go about their lives and have for years. It's not to say that all fae live or that there aren't any firmly placed and civilized settlements. There is guaranteed to be a party almost always somewhere in the Summerlands, very big on festivals and celebration. The kingdom thrives on happiness and self-discovery through nature. The Summerlands is one of, if not the most tolerant kingdoms in Deora.

No New Posts terrike
Terrike is divided into four areas by tribe: the Tauroi, the Chidike, the Aspa, and the Vallo, and they all come together in the center. Terrike is not a traditional kingdom in this sense, but there are no disputes between tribes: it's simply geographical territory that separates them this way. They feel it's foolish to rule at the center without knowing what's going on at the far corners of the compass, so all four of them have their own courts, and each territory has their own particular way of doing things. They can be lenient if you're clearly not a centaur and you don't know any better, though, so don't worry if you do something that's not acceptable in Vallo territory but alright in Chidike or something like that. For the most part, the whole of Terrike is still in a natural and untamed state (much like the centaurs who make it home), with sprawling fields throughout and bunches of woods dotting the land, and along its eastern edge sits Alainisce. Traditionally centaurs aren't really much for "civilization" and towns and whatnot, so you won't find many of them. You'll be lucky if you find a road.

No New Posts valafar
The majority of Valafar rests in the valley of Orano's shadow and its surrounding mountains, where a climate phenomenon of trapping heat down there keep much of Valafar exactly as one might expect the demon kingdom to be: hot, humid at times, and in another climate phenomenon unique to Valafar (though no one is really sure how it happens and jokingly blame it on the demons themselves), an often red-tinted sky. Some of Valafar creeps upwards to the bases of mountains and close to the borders of Antempor, where centuries ago the elves' kingdom, the first kingdom of Balnatur, used to be and Balnatur's ruins remain to this day. Even though Valafar isn't shy about how it won that war, its governing force has always kept a strict eye on those ruins and kept them respected (after all, the elves moved halfway across Deora in defeat; isn't that enough without your old monuments getting defaced?). Upper Valafar of the kingdom is less intense in weather, but it's also less populated and more countryside. Greater Valafar prides itself on being a metropolitan kingdom, successful in more ways than one. That being said, it isn't exactly known for morality either. Demons, man. Can't shake their stereotypes.

No New Posts viderus
Hundreds of years ago, the elven kingdom was actually near the fertile volcanic soil of Orano, but well, the demons took care of that in a war we won't discuss here (because frankly, Laura's not doing a good job at keeping these descriptions to the point), and so they moved. Elves being elves, it's not really surprising that at least one of their elders of the time was able to detect the ages of the trees, and thus, their second kingdom of Viderus was built around what they perceived to be the oldest tree in Deora: Fareden. In fact much of traditional elven life is built around this tree, including worship and a very particular system of what they can and can't "take" from the tree and nature. You won't find any cities in the typical concept in Viderus, but we specify "typical" because elves are actually quite ahead of the crowd in terms of green energy even though Deora in theory embraces this quite a bit. The elves are definitely pioneering it and ways to harness natural energy are all over the place. They also refuse to destroy nature in any way that isn't necessary, another thing barring traditional images of towns and such. Viderus is also one of the kingdoms that share the shores of the lake Alainisce, on Viderus' northeastern border.

No New Posts alainisce
The largest lake by far in Deora, Alainisce may as well be a small sea, honestly. At its center (approximately) sits Avalon Island, a completely neutral piece of land. Four kingdoms lay claim to the shores: Viderus, Summerlands, Delavi, and Terrike, but a half-mile radius surrounding Avalon is neutral water just like the island. It's a very deep lake at points, and no one is absolutely certain there's nothing down there-- and the aquatic folk just giggle and shrug like they're hiding something on purpose and are waiting for someone to find it and freak out.

The eastern half of Europe is one of the few segments of the Upside without any portals to speak of. When we say "few," it's not really that there's any kind of disproportionate absence, considering how massive some of the land masses around the world are, and that there's not all that many portals to be honest. It's just how things have turned out. Who knows? Maybe one will open up in the future.

The term Scandinavia encompasses Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Deora treats it much the same and bundles the north of Europe together. Although there is only one portal, opening up in Stockholm, it's always been considered that Elohim has claim to the whole of Scandinavia. It's never really been contested before, and it's doubtful that it will be until (if ever) another portal opens up in there somewhere.
